Professionals such as landscapers, arborists, railway, councils within the land based sector use brushwood chippers to turn hard to move brash piles into an easy to move wood chip pile and in some cases add value to waste produced. The machinery this course covers ranges from the tractor mounted PTO driven units, to self-propelled trailer and tracked units.

This course does not cover the gravity fed units, it focuses mainly on the more powerful roller fed that have a far higher potential of accidents.

By completing this course you will be meeting requirements under Health and Safety and in particular the PUWER regulations.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course you should be able to:
1) Know how to carry out a risk assessment.
2) Know the current health and safety legislation and environmental good practice that underpins wood-chipper operations.
3) Know the appropriate PPE for the use of the wood-chipper.
4) Demonstrate how to check and maintain the wood-chipper.
5) Demonstrate how to operate a wood-chipper.
6) Know how to carry out post-operative checks.
7) Know how to clean and appropriately store a wood-chipper.

Training fee £180 +VAT = £216 per person.
Assessment plus City and Guilds registration fee £62 per person.

Total £278 per person

All fees are payable upon booking.

Please note that these fees are based on 4 people attending the course.

You will require:
1) Safety footwear
2) Gloves
3) Helmet with visor and ear defenders

The rest of the equipment will be provided by us.

One extended day due to integrated training and assessment method (all training and assessment is carried out in the same day).

Do you need a refresher? HSE advises that you complete a refresher every 5 years, although some insurance companies state every 3 years. We can help. We tend to run the courses when we have four people requiring the same units for refreshing, if you get in touch we can add you to the list and let you know when the next refresher date is planned for.
Equally if you have a group of people we can put a date together just for you.

Don’t need a qualification? Your insurance company are happy for formal training only? Then we can help. We can carry out formal training with no accredited assessment.
